Christian Rasmussen

From national karting champion to 2x Road to Indy champion

Christian Rasmussen was only nine years old when he won his first go-kart championship, and many races, wins and championships later, the talented young driver from the Copenhagen suburb of Dragør, upgraded the racing class and won his first Formula race. His talent is so remarkable that he in 2020 and 2021 won back-to-back championships in the high regarded Road to Indy ladder system.

2017 Christian joins Magnussen Racing Experience.

The successful Christian Rasmussen joins Jan Magnussen’s Team in 2017 after landing a Silver Medal in the Danish Formula Ford Championship the previous year. The contract with Magnussen Racing Experience means that Christian Rasmussen in 2017 represented Jan Magnussen in the new Danish Formula 4 Championship.

Magnussen Racing Experience is owned and managed by former Formula-1 driver and four times Le Mans winner, Jan Magnussen. Magnussen actively participates in the management of the team and acts as a coach for the individual drivers in the team.

In 2016 he upgraded to Formula cars, and did so well he won the prestigious Award “Talent of the Year”
— Bo Baltzer, Head of Sports, The Danish Automobile Sports Union

As a member on Magnussen’s team, Christian Rasmussen drove a much more advanced racing car and was part of an international team which would require close communication and interaction with many stakeholder including engineers, data- & statistical experts, sponsors and the various media surrounding the sport. Christian finished 3rd overall in the 2017 Danish Formula 4 Championship.

2018 Christian joins Jay Howard Driver Development

After finishing 3rd in the Danish Formula 4 Championship Christian continued his journey and made the move to American racing. The young Dane from Copenhagen, Denmark realized early in his career the huge potential there was in American racing.

Christian teamed up with Jay Howard Driver Development, which would prove to be a huge success for years to come. They started their journey together in the 2018 Formula 4 US Championship. Christian went on to be the most winning driver that year, with 5 race wins and 2 lap records that still stand today.

2020 Christian wins the USF2000 championship

Following the success of driving with Jay Howard Driver Development in the 2018 US Formula 4 Series, Christian and the team has agreed on terms for another year. A new start for both the team and driver in the super competitive USF2000 Series. Here Christian finished 3rd in his rookie campaign with 3 wins and the most points out of everyone in the 2nd half of the season.

In 2020 Christian continued with Jay Howard Driver Development and did the first leg of Road to Indy which is the first step towards driving in the IndyCar Series. After a successful season in 2019 Christian continued on to win the first 6 races of the 2020 USF2000 Championship being the first driver ever to accomplish that. Christian went on to clinch the 2020 USF2000 Presented by Cooper Tires championship later that year with 9 race wins, 10 podiums, 7 pole positions. After Rasmussen’s very successful year he became the 2nd most winning driver in USF2000 history.

2021 back-to-back championships

Christians 2020 championship win would be the start to a 2-year winning streak for both Jay Howard Driver Development and Rasmussen himself. The winning duo backed their 2020 USF2000 Championship win up with winning the next leg on the Road to Indy, the Indy Pro 2000 Championship.

2021 was again a remarkable year for both driver and team. The duo of Rasmussen and Howard was back being the series rookies. Again, they defied the fact and went on to win their 2nd championship in a row, with 7 race wins and 12 podiums. Christian got the Rookie of the year honor as well as getting the “Ticket Clinic Fastest Lap Award” having the most fastest race laps out of everyone.
